DEAR SUN SPOTS: The United New Auburn Association, the Auburn Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club and Auburn’s Recreation Department invite all “ghosts and ghouls” to our eighth annual Hello-ween event in New Auburn from 12:3o to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. Come in costume or as you are for fun, games and a walk around New Auburn’s businesses for a safe, daylight trick or treating event.
Registration begins at 12:30 just outside 4 Season Farm Market on Third Street. Our participating businesses will begin handing out candy no earlier than 1 p.m. Free admission to the Haunted House at the Boys and Girls Club is included when you preregister at the UNAA game site on Third Street. We will have live music, games and roving judges that will hand out prizes for best, most creative, scariest and downright wow costumes!
Prizes and candy donations for this event are needed and can be dropped off at Rolly’s Diner or at 4 Season Farm Market. For more information, contact Kathy Shaw at 207-320-1969
Hope we will see you there!
Sun Spots: Thanks as always for all your efforts!

ANSWER: I love how communities come together and make things happen that are wholesome, fun, and cost-effective. Remember, if you are planning an event that includes a request for fund-raising, the need for volunteers and donations of any kind, you can publish information here in Sun Spots.
If you are simply inviting the community to attend an event and don’t have any requests or needs that go along with that, please send your announcement to Community News at communitynews@sunjournal.com.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for someone who cleans and repairs wall clocks in the Norway/South Paris/ Oxford area. Mine won’t hold a wind for more than just a few days.
—No name, no town
ANSWER: This is a popular question! Ken Rice of Tic-n-Time on Route 302 in North Windham (207-892-1263); Rohman Clockworks at 350 Minot Ave. in Auburn (207-784-1211) and Harry Hepburn in Harrison (207-583-2821) all care for clocks.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: When I read your column regarding Nomorobo, (Oct. 8 and 16 Sun Spots), I was overjoyed to think there was some more help to be rid of those unwanted calls. I went to the website to request that service only to learn that my phone company is not served by Nomorobo. (I am a Firstlight, formerly Oxford Networks) customer. I emailed my phone company provider to ask if (and when) they might take advantage of the service and I have never received a reply. I wondered if others have had this experience, and if so, how it might be overcome. Thank you!

ANSWER: This seems like quite a quandary. I can only encourage you to follow up on your email with a phone call and tell readers to contact their phone providers with letters, emails and calls and make your needs and expectations known. I believe that if you all put your voices together as one, that this annoying predicament of unwanted phone calls can be stopped. Be your own advocate and keep at it. If anyone in Sun Spots Land has good advice to share, let’s hear it!
This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name (we won’t use it if you ask us not to). Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be emailed to sunspots@sunjournal.com.
