DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Franklin County Chamber’s annual Gerry Wiles Holiday Food Basket Drive seeks donations for food baskets to help community members in need. The chamber is collecting both monetary and food donations to provide as many meals as possible.
Last year, we helped more than 200 Franklin County families enjoy a warm home-cooked dinner during the holiday season, thanks to the great support of area businesses, individuals and volunteers. With your help, we hope to provide more food baskets this year. Visit the chamber office at 615 Wilton Road in Farmington or complete the donation form online at franklincountymaine.org. Both monetary and food donations will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7.
Applications to receive a holiday food basket are available at the chamber office or online at franklincountymaine.org. Please submit request applications for food baskets to the chamber no later than 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30. All applications will be reviewed by the food basket committee and granted based on eligibility and availability. If the applicant is granted a basket, they will be contacted and baskets will be available for pickup from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the chamber office.
Please contact chamber personnel with any questions at 207-778-4215 or info@franklincountymaine.org. Each contribution makes a big difference in our communities. Thank you!
— Trisha, Farmington
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would any of your readers know where Paul Litalien from Rumford, owner of Paul’s Arcade Repair, would have moved to? He’s the contact person for repairs on jukeboxes. Does anyone know how I can contact him?
— No name, Sabattus
ANSWER: Paul hasn’t gone anywhere, my dear. He’s alive and well and busy as ever repairing and cleaning arcade games, pinball machines, jukeboxes and slot machines; something he’s been at since 1997. We had a great little chat!
Paul’s Arcade Repair is still at 64 Riverview Annex right in Rumford. You can reach him at 207-357-3882 or email him at paul@paulsarcaderepair.com. He even has a website at paulsarcaderepair.com.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a free BK1479 Dual trace Oscilloscope and a Sencore PR57 Variable Isolation Transformer to give away. Call me at 207-240-0549.
— Bob, no town
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the Oct. 30 Sun Spots about phone books, I want to let readers know that my brother has had the same phone number for years, but in my new phone book, his name is no longer listed. When I asked him why, he told me his number was converted to Spectrum, and is now treated like a cellphone and not included in any of the telephone books anymore.
A lot of people use the older phone books for sending out their Christmas cards, etc. and I just wanted to pass this along.
— No name, no town
ANSWER: Readers, has your longtime phone number been dropped from the phone book? Let me know!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where can I purchase a landline phone?
— No name, no town
ANSWER: These phones aren’t relics of the past quite yet! Try Walmart, Target, and Staples. There are many to choose from.
Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to one and all in Sun Spots Land! I’m so grateful for your questions, your kindness and all the ways you share.
