Hannah Cowan of Bethel has been awarded a University Fellowship at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., allowing her to pursue independent study on campus this summer, with assistance from a faculty mentor.

Cowan, a graduate of Gould Academy, is a member of the Class of 2011 at St. Lawrence.

Cowan is a geology and biology major and is working on a project titled “Macroinvertebrate Responses to Acidification and Heavy Metals in Headwater Streams of Northern New York.”
