Art museum to give curator’s tour

BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College Museum of Art will hold a curator’s tour of the exhibit, “1968-Spring of Discontent,” featuring the photography of Michael Ruetz, from 4 to 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the museum’s pavilion, 255 Maine St. 

Students of “German Literature and Culture since 1945” and Jens Klenner, assistant professor of German, will discuss the iconic photography of Ruetz and the circumstances of the turbulent events of 1968 in Germany and beyond.

Maine-ly Harmony to host open house

AUGUSTA — The Maine-ly Harmony women’s a cappella barbershop chorus welcomes women of all ages to an open house at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church, 209 Eastern Ave.

In preparation for the upcoming holidays, folks are welcome to join in holiday songs or sit back and enjoy the music, then meet new friends over refreshments.

Member’s evening to be held at art museum

BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College Museum of Art will hold “Member’s Evening at the Museum” from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the museum’s pavilion, 255 Maine St.

Anne Collins Goodyear and Frank Goodyear, co-directors of the museum, and the museum curatorial staff welcome members and guests to a special presentation of recent acquisitions. Refreshments will be served. Members are eligible for a double discount on all museum shop purchases during the event.

This event is free and open to the public. Membership is free and folks can sign up at the reception.

Student art calendars, framed prints for sale

LEWISTON — Students at Lewiston Regional Technical Center’s multimedia program are selling their digital artwork in a variety of formats.

The high school juniors and seniors created landscapes by using fruits and vegetables for their images. The 2019 calendar can be bought either as a wall calendar for $10 or as a two-year desk calendar for $15. Framed prints are for sale for $40 at the Green Ladle at 156 East Ave. 

Proceeds will help pay for the students’ trip to a SkillsUSA conference next year and for supply costs of future projects.

OHMPAA to hold free concert in Hebron

HEBRON — The Oxford Hills Music and Performing Arts Association will hold a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Hebron Community Baptist Church, 45 Station Road. They will present two timeless stories with a choral interlude: “The Gift of the Magi” and “The Happy Prince.” Refreshments to be served following. This event is open to the public.
