JAY – Chris A. McDonald, 61, a resident of Jay, passed away, Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 6, 1957, in Farmington, the son of Earl W. McDonald and Marguerite A. “Peggy” (Tibbetts) McDonald. He was a 1976 graduate of Jay High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1976 through 1983. He worked for National Cash Register, and later as shipping and receiving manager for McQuay International, both in Dayton, Ohio. He spent 26 years in Dayton, Ohio before moving back home to Jay eight years ago, to spend time with his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed Nascar and would root for whoever was driving the Richard Petty car. He would be spotted around town in his Ohio State Buckeyes hat and enjoyed all New England sports teams. If not watching sports, he would be playing basketball or softball with his grandkids, nephews and nieces. He took an active role in the Jay Amvets Post 33 and loved setting up for Sunday bingo.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristina Roasa of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Victoria Powell and her husband Jeremy of Dayton, Ohio, Cassandra McDonald of Dayton, Ohio, his sons, Bruce McDonald of Fredericton, Nova Scotia, Canada and Christopher McDonald of Dayton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Greg McDonald and Brenda Allen of Fayette, Kathy Buckingham of Jay, Cindy Marston and her husband Albert of North Jay, Pamela Brown of Jay, Melanie Nichol and her husband Robbin of Jay, Tina Rioux and her husband Norm of Livermore, and Monica Woodcock and her husband Kenny of Livermore Falls; sister-in-law, Wanda McDonald of Jay; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Leanna J. McDonald Bonner; his brother, Randy E. McDonald and his brother-in-law, Dale Buckingham.
A Celebration of Life gathering with full military honors will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, February 28, at Amvets Post 33, 111 Main Street, in Jay. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m., prior to the Celebration of Life.
