PERU — A Peru man was airlifted to a Lewiston hospital on Wednesday night after crashing his motorcycle, Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Halacy said early Thursday afternoon.
Halacy said that at about 8:15 p.m., Todd Vienneau, 33, was riding his black 2007 Suzuki motorcycle on Pleasant Street “when he failed to make a turn and went into a ditch.”
Vienneau, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by Med-Care Ambulance to Rumford Hospital, and then flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center.
Halacy and Med-Care Assistant Chief Chris Moretto said Vienneau was flown to CMMC as a precautionary measure in case he suffered internal injuries that weren’t showing up during the initial treatment at the scene and in the emergency room.
Additionally, Halacy said Vienneau may have suffered a neck injury.
“There are no citations at this time,” said Halacy, who has yet to interview Vienneau.
A CMMC spokeswoman said Vienneau was in good condition and still a patient there at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday.
