LEEDS — The Leeds Community Church will present “Another Great Evening of Music,” with Bryce Libby as headliner, on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Libby, a Turner native and the youngest child born into a musical family, will perform a full set of cabaret and show tunes.

The talents of his parents, Ken and Dorothy Libby, and his siblings Linda, Rhonda and Kevin, are well known to local audiences. During the 20 years he lived in Connecticut, Libby studied classical voice and performed extensively in musical theater and musical revues before performing his own show in the cabaret club circuit of New York City.

Libby likes the intimacy of cabaret and enjoys being able to perform a program that offers “a range of material that ordinarily you couldn’t get away with.”

He will be accompanied by well-known local pianist Jerry Ellis. Last year, the two teamed up at the first variety show to perform “No Tables and No Chairs” from “Les Miserables.”

Also returning for another performance will be the Portland-based duo Lauren & Pete. Lauren Hastings and Pete Genova are both members of Portland’s music scene, and are currently playing with Billy Libby & Company. Hastings, originally from Winthrop, is a classically trained violinist who branched out into the folk and rock scene as both a violinist and a singer. Genova grew up in Portland and began playing on the Portland night scene in 2004 as a guitarist and bass player. Their song styles range from bluegrass to light rock, and include favorites by Fiona Apple, Patsy Cline and the Beatles.

Also coming back to Leeds to perform will be Shane McNear, who grew up in the community and has been singing and playing guitar since he was a teenager. He has performed more than 60 shows this year, playing at such venues as The Liberal Cup in Hallowell. His repertoire ranges from classic rock to 1990s alternative.

“Another Great Evening of Music” will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Free-will donations will be taken at the door, with all donations benefiting the Leeds Community Church maintenance fund. Refreshments will be served during intermission. For more information, call 524-7151.
