RUMFORD — An open house will be held next week on Washington Street to celebrate a new apartment building for homeless youth and young families in Rumford.
The Washington Street Transitional Housing Program event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, at the building at 49 Washington St.
“The priority population is homeless youth and young parents ages 18-28, including pregnant and parenting females,” said Paula Paladino, director of Homeless Services for Rumford Group Homes Inc., in a Monday report.
“The program provides supportive housing, case management services, and assistance in developing independent living skills,” Paladino said. “Youth can remain in the program for up to two years while they develop the skills needed for self-sufficiency.”
Supporters of MaineHousing.org and the JTG Foundation provided financial support to develop the project, she said.
For more information, contact Paladino at 364-3551 ext. 212 or ppaladino@rumfordgrouphomes.org.
