Haley R. Burrowes of New Gloucester has been named a Leadership Scholar in the Class of 2014 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

The Leadership Scholarship awards $40,000 over four years to students who are selected based on evidence of leadership in their schools and communities. Students named as Leadership Scholars students are expected to continue to develop their leadership abilities while having a positive impact on St. Lawrence and the surrounding community.

Burrowes graduated from Waynflete School in Portland.
