Malik Foster scored 17 points and Lewiston overcame a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat Poland 59-54 on the road in boys basketball action Saturday.

David Omasombo chipped in with 11 points and Elijah Scales and Chiwer Mayen each added nine for the Blue Devils (3-0).

Hunter Gibson led the Knights (0-1) with 19 points. Hayden Christner scored 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

LEWISTON 70, POLAND 14: Natalie Beaudoin and Emily Strachan each connected on a trio of 3-pointers and finished in double figures to help lead the Blue Devils past the Knights at Lewiston.

Beaudoin scored 21 points on eight baskets and a pair of free throws. Strachan added 15 on three 3s and three two-pointers. Lewiston had 10 of its 14 players contribute to its 26 total baskets made.

Thea Thornton led Poland with six points. Emma Williams, Atlantis Martin and Kalie Paradis each added two.

BOYS HOCKEY

MESSALONSKEE 6, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE 1: Myles Hammond notched a hat trick and added two assists to lead the Messalonskee boys hockey team to a 6-1 win over Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse on Saturday.

Garrett Card, Andrew Salvadori and William Durkee added goals for the Eagles.

Brandon Durant scored the lone goal for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse.

EDWARD LITTLE FACES MT. ARARAT, WISCASSET VIRTUALLY: The Edward Little swim teams — and the neighboring swimmers who compete with the Red Eddies — faced off against both Mt. Ararat and Wiscasset in virtual meets, with the Red Eddies jumping into the pool Friday night. 

On the girls side, EL and Mt. Ararat tied 68-68 and EL beat Wiscasset 84-34. Izzy Bellefleur had a big night for the Red Eddies, winning the 200-yard IM and 500-yard freestyle in both meets. Emma Hefty won the 200-yard freestyle in both, and also won the 100-yard butterfly against Wiscasset. 

In boys action, EL beat Mt. Ararat 58-33 and Wiscasset 65-12. Konnor Simpson had wins in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke against both opponents, and Andrew Casares was victorious in the 200 IM in both meets and 100 breaststroke against Wiscasset. 

Swimmers from Leavitt, Lisbon, Oxford Hills and St. Dom’s all competed with Edward Little.
