The $75,000 tapestry presented to Mrs. Woodrow Wilson during the Peace Conference will find a place in the new home of the Wilsons. Mrs. Wilson has removed it from the East room of the White House where it has been hanging since it was brought to the United States
50 Years Ago: 1971
A Joint meeting of the Auburn City Council and the Auburn Planning Board. and representatives of the State Highway Commission will be held at the Auburn city building tonight for a discussion of the Union Street Bypass Project. City Manager Bernard J. Murphy said today that the city and the state must enter into a “standard agreement” before the project can get underway.
25 Years Ago: 1996
Pandora Lawlor’s third-grade class at St. Joseph School in Lewiston held a poetry reading and Valentine party for parents and friends on Valentine’s Day. The students were asked to memorize a favorite poem at least four stanzas long, dress up as one of the characters and recite their poem while being video-taped by their teacher. Many of the students chose selections from Shel Silverstein, Emily Dickenson and Robert Louis Stevenson. Taking part were Brian Moran, Eric Weeks, Eric Carvalho and Max Cole.
