The hypocrisy of Republicans in Washington is astounding. Not one of them voted for Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID stimulus package, complaining that it was bloated and not specific enough to address the problems we are all facing as a nation.

The federal government is a blunt instrument, not a scalpel, and to suggest otherwise is an illustration of a complete misunderstanding of the American political system. The stall tactics and roadblocks used by the GOP in getting this legislation passed were nothing short of treachery. So many are suffering, and Americans needed relief yesterday; waiting any longer is not an option.

Despite the hyperbolic claims of the GOP, each provision of this bill is going to help America get back on track after being walloped by this pandemic. This virus was not started by the former administration, but where we were when Biden took over was a direct result of Trump’s complete selfishness and lack of leadership, the disorganization and chaos he caused within government, and his flagrant lack of belief in science and facts.

Furthermore, for Republicans in the legislative branch to complain about the cost of this relief package, after they allowed Trump to raise the federal deficit by 36% (over $8 trillion) in just four years, is a complete contradiction. It boggles the mind how any fiscal conservative can defend Trump, who ran the country like a teenager with his parents’ credit card.

Pathetically, the GOP is now simply the party of misinformation and no real ideas.
