GREENWOOD — Tuesday, selectmen discussed discontinuing a portion of the Patch Mountain Road from the house formerly known as the Hakala Farm to Newcomb Lane.
Highway Foreman Alan Seames proposed having the town no longer maintain the road out of the concern that potential subdivisions could end up being built on it, which would force them to “bring the whole road up to regular town standards.” The town is currently doing very little maintenance on the section of road, according to Town Manager Kim Sparks.
Sparks said that abutters would have to be notified of the possible discontinuance of the section of road before any decision could be made. Selectmen unanimously voted to have the town begin contacting abutters to the section of road.
