Negotiations for the purchase of the former Maine Central Railroad passenger station in Lewiston have been completed and the property will be purchased in entirety by the Steel Service Center.
Frank Hiltz of Winthrop, president of the steel company, announced the purchase last night but declined comment on the purchase price until after the papers are signed next week. It is expected, however, that the price will be between $75,000 and $80,000.

TURNER — Author Jim Willard, who is currently working on a manuscript about the town’s second hundred years of history, told the Bicentennial Celebration Committee this week that the book’s text is near completion and he hopes it will be ready for publication sometime in mid-April.
Joel Ellis, member of the Turner Historical Society, is reportedly having Turner’s original history, which was copyrighted in 1887, reprinted and the committee hopes to combine both books into a matching set.
