To the Editor: Abbott Laboratories developed a rapid test for COVID-19 that can provide results in 15 minutes. United Airlines just announced they will start to offer the test to travelers at the airport. Why can’t people take this COVID-19 test outside at a nursing home? If the test is negative then you can visit […]

Education: Checking on what we do
I recently wrote about statistics. They’re an important part of the educational picture. But not all of it. Teachers, administrators, school boards, the public also need to know what people think. I’ve whitewater rafted the upper Kennebec and have tubed a popular stretch further downriver but I had never played on the stretch in between. I […]

North Livermore Baptist Church
August 30, 2020 The service began with a memorial for Fran Berry. Hymns today were: “Wonderful Words of Life;” and “There is Power in the Blood.” Scripture, Revelation 22:12-13, with Pastor Bonnie’s message titled “Are You Prepared.” We all make plans—vacations, retirement, tomorrow; we prepare for everything here but forget to prepare for eternity. Fran […]

Claire’s California Kitchen
What would we do without our small kitchen appliances? How often do we take for granted that the toaster keeps popping and the blender continues to spin, our lives are made so much easier because of these mini wonders! It has been very hot where I live in Northern California. Turning on the oven is […]
