Chris Beam: Franco Center already welcoming, doesn’t need name change
I agree wholeheartedly with those who object to the “rebranding” of the Franco Center, even if the change involves only the addition of the rather inane “Riverfront” tagline. One statement in the March 14 article on the issue, “France weighs in on name change,” warrants attention. In defending the alteration, the current president of the […]

Clarence Page: Insurrection? Let Tucker explain what you think you saw

Froma Harrop: Warren was right before she corrected herself
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren has issued serial apologies for saying, when asked whether Joe Biden should keep Kamala Harris as his running mate, “I really want to defer to what makes Biden comfortable on his team.” She went on to say, “I like Kamala,” which is what we call “damning with faint praise.”

Arin Quintel: Abortion is too easy
When I was in college in the ’70s I knew three classmates who got pregnant. As quickly as they found out, they rushed out to get an abortion. I was supportive of them then. Today I absolutely would be 100% opposed to having an abortion or to supporting anyone who wants to. I can’t believe […]

Clarence Page: Chicago politics still ‘ain’t beanbag,’ but try to keep it civil
Today, we see race, ethnicity and gender continue to be issues in Chicago, but fortunately the voters seem to have gotten a little better at focusing on issues that affect all colors of Chicagoans.
