Diane Grandmaison: ‘Experience counts,’ re-elect Rep. Cloutier
Sometimes you meet a person, and you think the person is interesting. You meet the same person again and you know this person is a born leader. Of course, I’m talking about Kristen Cloutier. She has served on the Lewiston School Committee and was elected to the Lewiston City Council. She was chosen by council […]

Tamera Grieshaber: Rep. Cloutier ‘a proven transformational leader for Lewiston’
I am pleased to endorse Kristen Cloutier as state representative for newly-created House District 94. Kristen has a long history of community service, as past mayor of Lewiston, City Council president, Ward 5 councilor, and two terms as the representative of District 60, prior to redistricting. I have never met anyone whose dedication to serving […]

Leonard Pitts Jr.: America in winter
This … is a nation where the trees have gone barren and the birds have flown, a nation shivering in the Alpine freeze of disunion, disaffection and disillusionment, of disinvestment in the greater us.

Roger Fuller: Vote for Craven for integrity, experience

Dave Duguay: Vote Schmersal-Burgess for state House District 77
I’ve proudly served as Oxford County commissioner for many years. I’m an independent with no party affiliation. This has allowed me to make decisions based on what I think is in the best interests of my friends and neighbors. No political considerations. Augusta is quite another situation. Party cooperation is important. The Legislature and the […]

Stephen Austin: Rep. Libby fights for constituents’ interests
I am a lifelong resident of Maine and have always stayed out of politics, until this time. However, I feel it’s now critical for everyone to pay close attention to, and to be more involved in, our representation in Augusta. For that reason I have chosen to support Rep. Laurel Libby in this election for […]

Sen. Lisa Keim: Oversight Committee should have access to child protective records
In an attempt to obstruct the Legislature’s oversight responsibility, Maine Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Jeanne Lambrew refused last month to share records with the Legislature’s Government Oversight Committee, which voted unanimously to undertake a comprehensive review of DHHS’ Office of Child and Family Services after several child deaths. We’ve unfortunately seen this […]

Cal Thomas: The Queen’s reach
One commentator said the Queen’s death is the symbolic end of the Greatest Generation. We pay lip service to the virtues that made the greatest generation great, but no longer promote them, whether it is in public schools, social media, or the wider culture.
