Stuart Greene: Vote Cowan, bring needed change to Auburn council
It’s time for a change. In Auburn city government, specifically in our elected officials. It’s high time for civility, ability and responsibility among Auburn’s council members (and in the mayor’s office). That’s why I’m voting for Tim Cowan for City Council in Ward 2. A longtime Auburn resident, Tim has spent 30 years in public […]

Wei Fenton: Jensen can forge a brighter future for Lewiston
I wholeheartedly endorse Luke Jensen for Lewiston mayor. With half a decade of service on the City Council and School Committee, he brings unparalleled experience to the role. It’s time for a change, and Luke Jensen is the candidate to make it happen. His vision for improving our schools, enhancing public safety, and boosting economic […]

Thomas Shannon: Lewiston needs Parks on school panel
I support Megan Parks’ run for the at-large seat on the Lewiston School Committee. She uses her head and her heart in decision making. This is good. She thinks about the consequences of the actions the board takes. This is better. Every election she brings the “worms out of the woodwork” who name call her […]

Zoë Lidstrom: Cooke deserves Lewiston council seat
I moved to Lewiston a year ago. I admit that initially, some things about my Ward 5 neighborhood made me uneasy; I had never lived among so many folks struggling to get by. But I knew that my unease said more about me than it said about others, and I’ve come to embrace my neighborhood. […]

Jim Hodsdon: Can Maine afford Pine Tree Power?
There are a few things I haven’t seen on Pine Tree Power commercials. First, Central Maine Power is in the process of building a billion-dollar transmission line to Massachusetts. Is this going to be included in the takeover, and if so, does that mean it will be $14.5 billion bond? Pine Tree Power will not […]

Bob Neal: The Countryman: The turmoil of war muddles everything
It’s easy to put the monkey on our own backs to screen platforms and weed out the liars, but so many of them present themselves as honest brokers of news that one almost needs a degree in psychology to figure who’s posting the truth.

Stephanie Harmon: Leclair would be ‘a great representative’ for Lewiston’s Ward 5
I have known Eryn Leclair for 15 years. If there is one thing I can say about her, it is that she stands up for what she believes in and would advocate for those who wish to have their concerns and needs represented at the city level. Eryn would be a great representative for Ward […]

Cal Brown: Chittim would get job done for Lewiston
I’m not a Lewiston resident, and therefore my opinion may be quickly discounted, but I’ve known Lewiston City Council candidate David Chittim for 36 years. I was referred to him by a mutual friend when I was in deep distress, and he came across with flying colors. He’s man of his word and follow-through on […]
