David Oshansky: USM’s silence is curiously deafening
I read the articles regarding a plan to move Portland’s asylum Seekers to Unity, citing using Unity College’s dorms as a living area. I am very perplexed at the idea of moving these new Mainers to such a remote area when suitable housing accommodations can be found right at the Portland Campus, University of Southern […]

Joe Voisine: America does not need more government
President Biden’s son, Hunter, is getting a “sweetheart deal” from the Department of Justice. Pleading guilty to two charges of tax evasion and possessing a firearm. Nothing to be ashamed about if your father is the president. The president’s remarks were something like: let’s focus on the more important matters. Let’s overtax the very successful […]

Clarence Page: At least the Supreme Court offered alternatives to affirmative action
Find a kid who has overcome social and economic obstacles in pursuit of success and, regardless of their race, you have someone who is closer to what most folks view as the American ideal of a fair chance to succeed.

Jason Pawlina: Auburn ‘is in a better place’ with current leadership
Auburn’s mayor, council, and city staff are working toward solutions that benefit the citizens of Auburn. Having lived here with my family for 20 years and volunteering in various areas over many of those years, it is encouraging to watch these leaders work with residents to get things done in a way that is positive […]
