E. Paul Dumont: Lewiston motorists have been kind, patient
I would like to let the motorists of Lewiston know that I appreciate their patience when behind a school bus. When picking up or dropping off a student it is crucial to wait and make sure the child has safely been seated or arrived safely to appropriate destinations. I am a Hudson Bus driver and […]

Katey Branch: Painful level of disrespect for LGBTQ+ community
I am deeply disturbed that a petition for recall of two SAD 17 School board members, both from Paris, is being made. I do not believe people were given correct information when encouraged to sign the recall petition. These Paris members are two of 12 school board members who approved the first reading of the […]

Dan McKay: Maine needs a real energy plan. Now
Maine continues to support natural gas-fired plants operating within the state when it is well understood that the price of natural gas drives electricity prices so high that many people find themselves unable to pay the bill. Rich Lowry: Why do Republicans want to be led by a victim?
The ultimate indignity would, of course, be if Republicans denied former President Trump the nomination, at which point he would transform from I’ll-fight-and-die-for-you victim to unadorned loser.

Regimes have long used the World Cup to hide human rights abuses
So far, FIFA has chosen profits over action. The question now is whether soccer’s global governing body will continue to ignore the human rights violations in Qatar, as it did in the 1970s in Chile and Argentina, or if it will commit to establishing a fund to compensate migrant workers and ensure that LGBTQ+ people do not face discrimination or harassment.

There is hope for stopping gun violence — look at cigarettes and seat belts
