In December 2007, a subsidiary of the airline Lufthansa bought three vintage Lockheed Constellation Starliners and planned to restore at least one of the planes at the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport. But in March 2018, the airline company announced it was moving the project to Germany. Here is the story of how that deal came together but failed to achieve its goal.
