Albion man pleads guilty to ‘straw purchase’ involving convicted felon in federal firearms case
Charles Viles, 31, tried to buy firearms for a convicted felon in Palmyra and knowingly made false statements to to a licensed firearms dealer, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Bangor.

Winthrop man summonsed after crash sends pickup truck into Cobbossee Stream
Police say Chase Cloutier, 19, of Winthrop, was issued a summons for imprudent speed after the pickup truck he was driving crashed through a guardrail on Route 126 at the West Gardiner-Litchfield town line and ended up submerged.

Thousands attend Moose Permit Lottery in Augusta, and only a lucky few will go on the hunt of a lifetime
Out of 72,446 applicants, only 4,106 were chosen Saturday afternoon to receive a moose hunting permit in the state lottery. 46,242 applicants were residents, and the other 26,204 were non-residents, marking the highest number of applicants since 2003.
