LEWISTON — Rails Restaurant at 103 Lincoln St. announced Tuesday that it will be closed “until further notice.”
The announcement on its Facebook page read: “Dear Rails Family, due to unforeseen circumstances, Rails will be closed until further notice. We are working on contacting our customer reservations and vendors.”
“Please be patient with us while we plan how to proceed. Thank you for your understanding. Rails Management.”
In a message to the Sun Journal, management said, “Ileshea Stowe is currently evaluating the current business plan and the future of Rails. Please be patient during that process. More to come. Thank you for your understanding during this time.”
“We care very much about our customers. Once we know how to proceed, we will make an official announcement and answer everyone’s important questions and concerns,” according to the message.
Stowe acquired ownership of the restaurant from her parents, Claire and Stephen Dick, in January 2017.
Rails opened at the end of 2014, and underwent interior renovations including a new bar last summer.
Portland developers are planning to put a restaurant and brewery in the former Lewiston Fire Department substation on Lincoln Street.
