There haven’t been a lot of changes in the top five of the Varsity Maine field hockey poll this fall, and that trend continues in the latest rankings. The top five is the same as last week, when the top-four teams were unchanged. The top six didn’t change in the first three polls of the season.

In other words, Cheverus has been No. 1 each week, followed by Skowhegan, then Biddeford and Mt. Ararat. Yarmouth has been fifth or six each week, while Belfast was fifth the first three polls, seventh last week and is now sixth.

There are two games between top-four teams in the coming days. Skowhegan hosts Mt. Ararat on Monday, and Biddeford hosts Cheverus next Tuesday.

The Varsity Maine field hockey poll is based on games played before Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.

1. Cheverus (9) 90
2. Skowhegan 81
