Seri Lowell: Kudos to Eagle Scout for sprucing up Turner cemetery
Passing the Olde French Cemetery on Wilson Hill Road in Turner last week, I was delighted to see someone had spruced it up, replacing the broken picket fence and putting up a newly painted sign. I frequently drive past the cemetery, and it’s a lovely destination for a walk through the woods. I’d sadly noted […]

Arin Quintel: Lyman understands how excessive spending hurts Mainers
I moved to Livermore Falls over six years ago and fell in love with the area. It’s a fairly safe community, and I have come to know many who have lived here all their lives. I love the outdoors, the simplicity of life here and the people. I also moved here because property taxes are […]

Keith Tannenbaum: Rep. Cloutier an advocate for small business
I submit this letter in support of Rep. Kristen Cloutier’s bid for re-election to the Maine House of Representatives, District 94. As a small business owner in downtown Lewiston, I reached out to Rep. Cloutier (currently representing District 60) for her help on an issue related to my business. I was happy with the enthusiastic […]

Jan Barrett: Plourde ‘the right person’ for Androscoggin County Commission
As a longtime community service colleague and friend, in my opinion Ed Plourde is the better candidate to serve as the Androscoggin County District 1 commissioner. Serving in that capacity since last January, he’s brought his many years of experience as Lewiston City Council chair, Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport board chair, and past president of the […]

Jeanne Raymond: Rotundo ‘is always there when people need her’
I strongly support Peggy Rotundo for the next District 21 state senator. Peggy is always there when people need her. She is very supportive and helpful. She worked very hard to help us save No Name Pond. I know she would always be there for the people of Lewiston as our state senator. Jeanne Raymond, […]

Leonard Pitts Jr.: The National Weekend of Bigots
It was enough to make you wonder if someone’s been tampering with the nation’s water supply. But that’s a dodge, isn’t it, the idea that this baseness, this sordid profanation of our common humanity, must be the product of something external?

Lou Giard: U.S. needs true leaders, not career politicians
I totally agree with Clem Bechard’s letter to the editor; I’m sick and tired of the constant bashing of opponents (“U.S. needs leaders with vision, common sense,” Oct. 7). I feel that it’s fear based. We need leaders who have the courage to commit themselves to let people know their real intention about the positive […]

Lynn Ouellette: Hoke’s listening skills would serve House District 76 well
On Nov. 8, the voters of Jay, Livermore Falls and part of Livermore will have an outstanding choice for Maine House of Representatives on the ballot — Tamara Hoke. One of many essential skills that Tamara possesses is the ability to listen. As issues that impact the people of Maine are discussed in the Legislature, […]
