Pickleball Rangeley will welcome a professional player to its courts to host clinics for local athletes on the weekend of Oct. 3 .

Jackie Patnode, owner of Pickleball Rangeley, said Glenn Jordan, of Cape Elizabeth, competes professionally in the 50-plus division and recently joined the Carolina Coyotes. He also teaches pickleball in Southern Maine and Portland. Along with Jordan, Dan Olson, a 4.5 level competitor and mentor for the weekend, will be actively watching and providing feedback to participants of all skill levels, specifically with shot selection and technique.

Patnode said she met Olson in April. He played at her facility and ultimately connected the club with Jordan.

“I’m excited to get the evaluation of someone who truly understands the game,” Patnode said.

Since opening last October, Pickleball Rangeley has seen over 261 people pass through the three indoor courts at 2268 Main St., with around 50 regular members, Patnode said. Players are drawn to the game, similar to tennis, especially now that the facility allows for year-round practice. It is open to the public and offers open play from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday.

Clinics will run between Oct. 3 and 4, with separate paid sessions for moderate, intermediate and advanced players with limited availablilty. At 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, Jordan and Olson will face-off against some of the top players of the club in a free-to-attend match.

“We invite people to come and watch, and it’ll be really good time,” Patnode said.
