The ongoing Susan Collins vs. Troy Jackson debate is a great example of not seeing the forest but for the trees. The real issue for the upcoming midterm election is not which senator should represent Maine, but how do we, the citizens, wrest control back from an administration exemplified by cruelty, incompetence, corruption, self-aggrandizement and self-enrichment.
As much as I respect Sen. Susan Collins (I have voted for her in past elections), electing a Democrat to the Senate would move us closer to flipping the balance of power in the Senate. Reducing the Senate Republican majority to minority status is a prerequisite for reclaiming our government. A government of decency, fairness, competence and sanity.
As we head to the polls, let us step out of the trees so we can see the forest.
